Magnificence!

My newest post on Road to Abundance is highlighting my Mom. I love words and one that is especially beautiful to me is magnificence, or magnificent. In fact, I love this word so much it is in the byline of my Reflections blog.

Here’s one definition …

mag·nif·i·cent/magˈnifəsənt/Adjective     1. Impressively beautiful, elaborate, or extravagant; striking. 2. Very good; excellent.

And so, the title … the Magnificence of March. It is the month the Lord chose to give a tremendous gift to the world … my Mom! She was born March 13, 1919. This coming Sunday she would have been 92 – wow! I believe she led a quiet but magnificent life.

You can choose this day to live a life that is different – one that is better than average, one that matters, a life that when you are 80 years old, sitting in a rocking chair on some veranda looking at the view before you … leaves you content and at peace that the inner view is equally beautiful … even magnificent!

Here are some great books that can help you figure out your why, determine you path and remind you that life is more than taking up space … there are jobs to be done, works to accomplish that have your name written all over them and IF you say no to them, they will never be done. That person will never have the encouragement you were meant to give.

Work From Home

I am setting up a new blog –

WHY: I TOTALLY believe all of us should have access to multiple streams of incomes. The recession we are now in supports this premise completely. I believe we are capable of learning various subject areas well enough that we can earn an financial gain from at least 2 if not more. It may mean that we market our existing talents in various forms. We must broaden our horizons in order to meet our obligations to ourselves and to our families. I believe we all need to Dream It!

WHAT: Within the last year I have been involved in a search. Throughout this search I listened to 100s of hours of teleseminars, attended online classes, read 1000’s of articles, paid out 100’s of $$ to be a part of membership sites or try out products and from my research I have decided on this website to help others make a decision. I believe we all need to Plan It!

HOW: So, then it comes down to putting what you KNOW into ACTION! I will be presenting you with basic “How-To’s” from some of the best in the business of getting it done. When you finally Know and have it laid out in 1, 2, 3 and A, B, C then all that left to do is call on your gumption and – just DO IT!!

Mondays will be spent with Carrie Wilkerson The Barefoot Executive

Tuesdays will be spent with Bob the Teacher – LOVE his info and easy way of teaching …

Health

Your Health – Let’s Talk Physical

The Good Book speaks of  your body as being your Temple …  it is what ‘houses’ your mind, and soul. I like that this body isn’t compared to some shack where my soul is just hanging out, or that my soul is living in some trailer that may blow away in the next storm. It’s the picture of something holy, something sacred – A Temple – and it behooves you and me to take good care of it … this flesh and bones that holds our essence is a mighty valuable dwelling place.

Want to read more on Your Body Being Your Temple? Go to Abundance and read it now!

Road to Stress-Free Living is an absolute must for any family’s library … it is an accumulation of years of thoughtful reading and learning to understand how our bodies work. They do not work when our minds are consumed in and drowning in STRESS!! I had fun writing the book and believe you will have fun reading it!

Meal Time and Good Eats

You know, Meal Time with some good eats is a wonderful thing. It used to be that every family had a time of day that they met at The Gathering Place (the kitchen/dining room table). Ahhhh…. Our sacred, all but abandoned Meal Time …  I am not talking about ‘just grabbing a bite’.

Read more on The Gathering Place at Abundance.

There are oodles of great cook books out there – this is the place to share a few of you favorites but also, share  ideas or books on making your Meal Time delightful for your family.

I have several cookbooks that are literally falling apart. Joy of Cooking is one of my all time favorites, and I have one that is only about making Chocolate Desserts, and a lot of us probably have that family cookbook or the one from the Association or church … those are usually made up of favorite ‘pot-luck’ recipes — mmmm— so very yummy.

Home Cookin’ is a Family Affair is our Baughman recipe book — it has the recipes of my Mom’s side of the family – there were nine kids in all and even though they are all gone now I have this cook book and I can still feel a closeness to Mom, Aunt Audrey, Aunt Edna, Aunt Mim, Aunt Sara, Aunt Dot and all the cousins who added theirs …. so very, very cool!  It’s out of print now but, I am beginning to think we’ll have to re-publish for it for all the grandkids and greats that have come along!

Here’s a pretty good list that should help your mealtimes come alive, give you some ideas on how to incorporate the kids in the kitchen and some marvelous health-oriented cookbooks for those who are having to adjust due to diabetes, high cholesterol, or just looking to eat healthier.

218955: Wild at Heart: Discovering the Secret of a Man"s Soul Wild at Heart: Discovering the Secret of a Man’s Soul
    By John Eldredge

Helping men rediscover their masculine heart, Wild at Heart, a guide to understanding Christian manhood and Christian men, offers a refreshing break from the chorus of voices urging men to be more responsible, reliable, dutiful … and dead. God designed men to be dangerous, says Eldredge. Simply look at the dreams and desires written in every boy’s heart: to be a hero, to be a warrior, to live a life of adventure and risk. Sadly, most men abandon those dreams and desires—aided by a Christianity that feels like nothing more than pressure to be a “nice guy.” It’s no wonder that many men avoid church, and those who go are often passive and bored to death. In this provocative book, Eldredge gives women a look inside the true heart of a man and gives men permission to be what God designed them to be—dangerous, passionate, alive, and free.
